Facilitating Situations opened March of 2018. Since it’s conception, it’s hosted over 25 different artists, most that have art practices that explore creative entrepreneurship, whether that is visible through the work itself or the career trajectory of the artists themselves. This is a concept-driven site for production, and while the physical space may change, Facilitating Situations’ mission will always be at the heart of its programming.

Facilitating Situations focuses on economic exchange and support of artists. Artist books, zines, prints, wearables, and original two and three dimensional work can be found for sale at all times. It relies on a grassroots, for-profit structure to fund all of its programming, offering both contracted and pro bono services such as organizational support, advocacy, and networking.
The work and programming of Facilitating Situations is driven by intersectionality, offering a space of production that is meant to be inclusive, with its goal to bring together many cultural groups.
In its current state, Facilitating Situations is a storefront that features over 15 artists and designers from Milwaukee, WI and beyond. It hosts public programming that implements a fee-structure that is split with artists and the space, aimed at providing a modest stipend or honorarium for each presenter.
In 2019, Facilitating Situations will conclude its current project and reopen with new programming. Stay tuned.
